We believe in supporting Rocketeers’ continuous learning and career development. That’s why we offer two types of benefits: **iTalki** for language learning and **Courses & Books** for role-related development.

# iTalki

Improve your English or learn a new language by conversing with native-speaking teachers!

- Rocket.Chat provides a **$100 monthly allowance** for iTalki classes
- To access it, send an email request to **fernanda.bernardes@rocket.chat**


> ℹ️ **Important:** Language learning is available **only through iTalki.** Other language courses are **not reimbursed** under the “Courses and Books” policy.


# Other Courses and Books

Looking to take a course or buy a book to enhance your role or career skills? Here’s how we support you:

- **Books:** 100% covered by Rocket.Chat.
- **Courses:** Covered under the **70/30 rule** (Rocket.Chat pays 70%, you pay 30%). The only exception to this rule is when the company specifically requests a Rocketeer to undertake a course; in such cases, Rocket.Chat will cover the entire cost.

## How It Works

1. Identify the book/course.  It's important to remind you that these should be associated with the development of skills related to your role or area of activity.
2. **Before enrolling**, validate it with the People Team (contact **@fernanda.bernardes**).
3. If approved, purchase and request reimbursement in **Zoho People (Zoho → People → Compensation → Books and Courses).** Don’t forget to attach the receipt.

## Cost Limits

While you can enrol in courses of any cost, please note that[ Rocket.Chat](https://rocket.chat/) will only cover expenses up to a specified max. 

🌐 Rocketeers outside Brazil: **up to $525 per course**.

🇧🇷 Rocketeers in Brazil: **up to R$2.431,50 per course** (legal cap = 1.5x Brazilian minimum wage).


> ℹ️ - The maximum applies **per course**, not per month
> ℹ️ 
> ℹ️ *Example: For a $600 course, Rocket.Chat reimburses ****70% of $600 = $420**** in a single payment.*
> ℹ️ 
> ℹ️ - The limit includes all additional costs (enrollment fees, taxes, currency conversion, etc.).
> ℹ️ - **Exceptions: **Long-duration and high-cost courses, such as MBAs and post-graduate programs. Approvals for these exceptions should be granted by the General Manager and must be included in the yearly budget by the business area.

## Retention Period

If Rocket.Chat supports your course financially, you are expected to stay for at least **90% of the course duration after completion. **If you leave earlier, you must reimburse the proportional amount.

## Expensing & Budget

- Requests **approved by the 15th** of the month → reimbursed in the same month’s payroll.
- Requests **approved after the 15th** → reimbursed the following month.

:WARNING: Remember: We have an **annual team learning budget.** Please always validate with the People Team before submitting your request to ensure fair access for everyone.
